Reading The Bible With The D…, Bob Eckblad

Mainstream Christians often support valuable programs that aim at helping the underclass “catch up” with the mainstream. However, most Christians are ill prepared for any kind of ministry of the Word with those outside the institutional church. Those with a message of forgiveness and love, or at least with access to helpful theologies, often keep this “good word” among themselves, leaving the underclass to fundamentalist groups, Jehovah’s Witnesses, sectarian evangelicals, and the Mormons–or to whoever is willing to go out into the streets and meet people where they are, often door-to-door. This must change! The survival of the church is dependent on ordinary Christians rediscovering good news in the Scriptures with and for others and for themselves.
